Another great place to go near Carlton House of Oak Bay is Willow’s Beach. It features a long stretch of white sand shores and it’s shallow, protected waters make it a very popular swimming spot in the summertime.
Willow’s Beach is located at the end of Dalhousie street, just off of Beach Drive. It’s a 25 minute walk from Carlton House of Oak, or a 5 minute drive.
To walk to Willow’s Beach from Carlton House, head East on Oak Bay Ave toward Elgin Rd. Take a slight left on Prospect Place, then turn right on San Carlos Ave. Turn left on Beach Drive, and head North East. Once you hit Dalhousie Street, turn right and follow the road for 150 meters until you reach the beach. A more direct route for those who are driving would be to head down Oak Bay Ave, turn left on Hampshire Road, then take a right on Dalhousie Street and continue until you reach the parking lot at the end of the road.
Once at Willow’s Beach, you can take a stroll along the sandy shore and take in the views of Oak Bay Marina, Discovery Island & Mount Baker. You can also stop into the popular concession, Willow’s Tea Room to enjoy a drink or a snack when it’s open from May to September.
Willow’s Beach also features a playground and a large grassy park, complete with picnic tables, washrooms, & changerooms, making it a great destination for the whole family. Leashed dogs are allowed year-round on the grass and pathways, so it’s also an ideal spot to bring your furry friend for a little stroll. In the off-season from Oct 1 – April 30, dogs can enjoy the beach areas as well, leashed or unleashed.
